LPG is much more environmentally friendly than petrol. Vehicles that use LPG create noticeably less carbon dioxide (CO2) than unleaded petrol. Climate change is caused by greenhouse gasses, and CO2 is the most important component of greenhouse gasses. The output of sulphur dioxide (a contributor to acid rain) is also reduced. From August 2006, the Federal Government provides grants of up to $2,000 (subject to eligibility criteria) for private motorists to assist with purchasing a new vehicle with factory fitted LPG ($1,000) or converting a new or used vehicle to LPG ($2,000). The Government’s objective is to reduce greenhouse gas and other emissions in the transport sector. The cost of installation depends on the vehicle and vehicle owners requirements. In general costs would normally be in the range of $2,500 to $4,500, from which the Government Grant would be applied.LPG Gas – System and Gas Tank Checks (10 years)
